How to Get Testimonials (Save this lesson πŸ’Ύ)

August 08, 2025β€’5 min read

Massive welcome to the Grow Language Pros - Friday Newsletter new edition!

This is our tactical edition. Next week it's a story.

The goal is to give you some of the useful tactical tools I use for myself or with my clients inside my programs. This is tried and tested little tactics that continue to make us money every month.

How to Get Testimonials (Save this lesson πŸ’Ύ)

We can't overstate how social proof is important to your business.

Almost 100% of what we buy goes through a social proof filter.

A meal at a restaurant...

A movie on Nextflix...

A book...

A boxing trainer...

A dance teacher...

It's the same with you. If someone is saying something positive about you, more chances people will pay attention.

If someone influential say something positive about you, others will follow.

Magically all their reputation and credibility is transferred to you.

LESS THAN 25 MINUTES IS WHAT IT TAKES TO PERFORM WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SHARE FOR FREE. THE RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT IS THOUSANDS ($$$$) AND A TON OF POSITIVE ENERGY. ENJOY!

How to get reviews (TWO STEPS)?

  1. You ask.

  2. You ask a little more (begging is part of growing πŸ˜…).

There's only one reason why people don't ask.

And that is (apart from laziness) the fear of not hearing back, or maybe even hearing back something negative.

The fear of not hearing back is between you and where you want to go. Having those reviews will attract new clients FOREVER.

The fear is real and it has stopped me many times too.

Nonetheless.... it's just smoke that cost us more than we can afford.

So, here we go.

I'll write the testimonial request for you.

All you need to do is to add a name and click SEND. Deal?

Send via personal message, or via email.

MESSAGE 1: THE ASK

Hi [PAST CLIENT/COLLEAGUE],

How have you been?

I’m giving my website a facelift and working on improving my business. I’d love some help from my past clients. I know it’s a big favor, and I truly value your time.

Would you be able to write me a short paragraph about your experience working with me?

You can share anything you like β€” even just a few words from you would make my day.

If you want, you can use this structure to help you write:

Questions:

1) Who are you and what do you do?

2) Where did you find out about [BUSINESS NAME] service?

3) Overall results (before and after). Here you can focus on the results that were most valuable to you.

4) Your experience working with me (communication, quality of work, responsiveness, level of service etc)

5) Recommendation to anyone else thinking of working with me too

I really appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you.

MESSAGE 2 [5 days later]: THE ASKING A LITTLE MORE

[most times it's not needed, but hey, sometimes we need to ask more]

Hi [PAST CLIENT],

Did you get a chance to see the email I sent above?

Sorry to pester you here 😫 β€” a quick review would help me immensely.

If you can’t, I completely understand.

YOUR NAME

MESSAGE 3 SAY THANK YOU!

[you know how to say thank you. But here's a special way of saying thank you that creates opportunity.

Thank you so much for your kind words β€” they made my day. If there’s ever anything I can do for you, please let me know.

I also wanted to share that I’m starting a new membership, and I’d love to invite you to join us.

The membership is about: XYZ.

Feel free to use this 50% discount on top of the promotional price.

A few extra strategic tips and clarifications:

You know what helps you get more social proof?

Social proof!
πŸ˜‰

Yes, if the client sees that other clients took their time to write you a nice review, they are more inclined to do that too.

When you ask for a review you can screenshots a couple good reviews and send in the email as inspirations.

Just say: feel free to see how Laura and Philip did for inspiration.

Of course adapt and calibrate the language in my message above to match your general tone and relationship with the client.

But send it!!!

FAQs:

"What's the best time of the day and day of the week to send"

Right now.

"What if the product I sell now is very different from how I worked with that client?"

It's not a problem. The review is about working with you, your professionalism and ability to deliver on your promises.

"What if they don't want other people to know they once needed your help?"

That's on them. They won't give you a review in this case. And it's okay. Our job is done when we ask.

"BUT once I get the review what do I do with it?"

That's a good problem to have. You now can do anything you want. Put it on the website, on your social media, on your t-shirt...everywhere. You can take the quote and put it in a beautiful design like this πŸ‘‡

ARE YOU READY TO DO SEND YOUR REVIEW REQUESTS? LET'S GO! TIME IS TICKING.

Make a little list with 5, 10, 20 people and start sending. I promise that won't take more than 20 minutes it will pay you back forever.

Think of all the new clients and amazing stories over the years.

We are talking about thousands $$$$ and a lot of positive energy for a 20 min effort. What a bargain.

Did I tell you the reason people don't do is because of FEAR?

Embrace rejection. The worst that can happen is someone won't bother to reply and forget about you 40 seconds later.

If that happens, hey, that's an awesome piece of content to write about on social media - "how people ignored you"πŸ˜…

I beg you to do this. Because you can only win!

See you on the next tactical Newsletter.
